Teach empathy to your kids (don't go overboard, just make sure they can empathize), and don't overinflate their egos. I'm not quite a narcissist, but pretty damn close, and those two things stand out to me. Also, spend time with your kids, let them see other people, like you, as living/breathing/thinking people, not just some distant other thing. I don't know how to explain it, but I don't see myself as human, I'm some seperate kind of thing, and that's probably something you want to avoid. Could just be a combination of the two things listed above (empathy and ego), could be more to it.

Last I checked, the minute kids start going to school it's no longer the parents who are solely responsible for who they turn into.
