I have dreams that can last months, I had one last what I preceived as years before. I mean yeah I was only asleep for maybe 5 or 6 hours but the dream went on for a long time. I've had about four of those since I was a kid. Waking up after one of those is extremely disorienting and I have to remember where I am and reacclimate to current time. I used to rationalize it as being part of a different timeline because it's always me, I can see myself, I can read, I have feelings, I feel pain, I sleep and eat, there's no way to tell that I'm dreaming. But my age In these dreams is whatever I am when I fell asleep. It's absolutely nuts and freaks me out every time it happens.

If our creator can view our dreams, it might explain why we exist. We're kind of boring when we're awake.

There's a book called The Kin of Ata Are Waiting for You that is based on this concept. It's been 30 years since I read it but I remember enjoying it at the time fwiw
