It's probably just as common for a fired person to stay in the show, as a lot of the time the firing is just part of their story arc

Sometimes maybe, but characters get fired all the time and still stay in the show.

This would be more accurate if you said character dying in a tv show is a person getting fired in real life. Although even that isn't always the case.
