If you don't talk to Keith Stokes you won't get the full history.

I was playing the video game Uncharted 4 & learned that Aquidneck Island has a history with pirates! They mentioned specifically Thomas Tew in the game. So of course I had to start looking it up online. I came across this article and found it really interesting!
But I will echo what others say and talk to librarians and even reach out to the Newport Historical Society. I would have done this myself but I don't live in the US anymore. I'd love to hear anything you find out!

State archives usually have cool data or documents about anything you can think of. And they love to suggest further resources.

Newport has tons of programs including the Historical Society, museum of Newport history, sailing museums, and obviously the mansions in the guided age neighborhood have tours and websites available for the history of the island too.
Check out Salve's online archives as well-they have tons of info about the island.

Generally speaking books, libraries, and google are the place to go for facts.
reddit is the place for creativity, discussion, and debate.

Not to discourage you from seeking info here, but this is exactly the sort of thing your local librarian would be able to help with.
