Hi all,

With the colder weather, the humidity in our house is really low. I'm thinking of having a whole house humidifier installed. Doing some searching on-line didn't seem to turn up anyone that specifically does this. I'm assuming I need an HVAC contractor to do it.

Has anyone here specifically had a humidifier put in and know someone who could do it?

EDIT: Might be helpful to state that our heating system is natural gas forced hot air.

id just leave a pot of water boiling every once in a while. Or leave the pot and have a fan blowing over it

Dry air inside a house indicates it is not properly air sealed.

Start by getting a free energy assessment from RI Energy. They have an attic insulation and air sealing discounted program that you could try before adding a whole house humidifier.

That's on my list as well. Our house is newer construction and recently renovated, so I'm reasonably confident the insulation is good but it never hurts to check.

They will do a door blower test and that will give you an idea.

As for the humidifier. Aprilaire is one of the most common. Any HVAC company will be able to quote you an installation.
