I didn't say anything of the sort, in fact I said quite the opposite. Your response reinforces my feelings about RI too, because as much as I love this state I'm surrounded by leftist bots and it makes me a little nuts.

Trump handed the democrats the moral high ground by being Trump. Nearly every word he said and every action he took. The democrats, especially the really inept ones like Cicilline, just can't let it be what it is. They need to grandstand and try to make it into something it isn't only to look like fools. I mean, you can buy into it and let them contribute to the divisive stupidity if you want, but it isnt going to make anything any better.

I just asked you a question. Maybe stop the presumptions?

I’m all for letting Trump run. If your opponent has a cancerous growth, you shouldn’t be volunteering to surgically remove it for them.

Your question is presumptuous.

I dont want him to run. I think he was instrumental in a bad and moderately dangerous movement. I dont think he is guilty of insurrection (really sedition would be the charge) because he skirted the line very well and frankly if he were he'd be charged already. So, to the point, no he isn't disqualifies under the 14th and this is grandstanding. That doesn't make Trump good or correct or not guilty of bad actions.

No, my question was genuinely trying to figure out what your views were about Trump’s actions. It could easily be read as the MAGA “he did nothing wrong and he got cheated” viewpoint or it could something more nuanced.

I prefer to try and get a sense why someone says something if it’s unclear before simply arguing it.

Fwiw, I think this is more strategic about just amplifying the case why Trump shouldn’t hold office than a serious and earnest attempt to block his campaign. That and trying to force Republicans to go on record for or against the guy. The ones that back him create a new attack vector over the next year and a half with every crazy and stupid thing Trump does or says, the ones that don’t? Or try to somehow stay out of it? Trump will go after them and you’ve just exploited the giant fault line on the right.

You're being more generous than Cicilline deserves. This is posturing and a waste of time and resources. Really, even based on what you wrote, I think you realize this. It's gaming it all yo score points in a popularity contest which is no better than what Trump always did.

This shouldnt be a hot take...cicilline is a donut and makes himself a lightning rod for everything the right cant stand about the neoliberal left. I live in providence and the political climate is unilaterally, unquestionably blue that loves to parrot neolib feelgood talking points while we continue to rank horribly for running small business and cost of living.

I will never understand the love this guy gets. He basically gutted Providence only to be outdone by his successor. He has zero political chops and is as corrupt as Cianci without any of the benefits or like-ability.

EDIT: I love that my comment has been down voted into oblivion. Keep it classy RI.

No, he didn’t. I worked for the city around the time he became mayor. He inherited a giant steaming mess.
