In line with keeping public order? He was plain clothed, not on duty. Cops aren’t constantly on duty, they shouldn’t just be allowed to do whatever they want

And that’s one of the issues we have, which is why we need police reform. Because as you stated, which is 100% true, cops are not on duty all day long. Because there’s an ocean of difference between what this cop did and an off duty officer saving a convenient store from a robbery.

See that’s a term I hate “off-duty officer.” They’re citizens. Normal citizens. They don’t get more rights just because for 8-12 hours a day they put on a uniform.

You know, I’ve never thought about it like that. And you’re 100% right, they’re not any more special than anyone else when they’re not working. I don’t call myself an “off duty nanny”, when I’m not at work.

Any “off-duty officer” is just a cop that’s abusing his position and working overtime without permission from their superior. Shouldn’t be applauded, should be disciplined.
