For context, I live in Newport but I frequently travel to Providence. I don’t even know how to explain why, but in recent weeks I have felt the need to learn how to play the organ. I am on a campaign of learning and learning a musical instrument is something I have always wanted to do. But I don’t know exactly who to contact or where to go to learn the organ.

With a name like pinkswallowlove are we allowed to make organ jokes?

Ask a local church organist if they can give you lessons?

Heya! Reach out to the RI chapter of the AGO (American Guild of Organists.) They should be able to sort you. Link HERE

If you can drive to Boston, I highly recommend the Boston Organ Studio.

The musical instrument commonly known as an organ is essentially a piano with additional bells and whistles. Perhaps you can find a piano teacher with relative eaae.

Eh, it's similarities end with having the same style of keyboard (with the organ's being limited to a max of 61 keys.) After that, it very much becomes its own beast. Key velocity having no baring on dynamics, for example. And a pedalboard.

Yeah, they’re very different instruments and are played differently as well.

Specifically the organ? Not sure. But a piano teacher should be easy enough to find. Hell, I'd do it if I had the time.

A church with organs. The old timer who plays it will probably be happy to teach you.
