Vampires in Rhode Island | This is the crypt that Mercy Brown, often referred to as "America's Last Vampire", was kept in. The Mercy Brown Vampire Incident occurred in Exeter, Rhode Island in 1892. It is one of the best documented cases of the exhumation of a corpse in order to perform rituals to banish an undead manifestation. The incident was part of the wider New England vampire panic, which was a reaction to an outbreak of tuberculosis.

While Mercy gets all the attention in the tale, the legend is really about a family being devastated by the effects of tuberculosis, and a grieving father caving to local pressures.

I made a quick video on what happened here if you wanna be entertained AND educated wow what a deal.

When we were kids, we'd stick our arm in a hole in the front door, up to our shoulder; see who could last 2 minutes.
