All this proves is that Rhode Island politicians run as Democrats to get elected, not because of any principles or values

Let’s be honest with ourselves, Dan McKee has all the appearances of being crooked as hell. I’m not saying Ashley is any better, the optics with Dan are not good however. The real problem is, the wrong people are running for office. More and more races from the national level all the way down to the local level I look at and ask myself, “is this the best we can do for candidates“?
Coincel_pro t1_itw6mwf wrote
Yeah McKee is garbage. There's no universe in which I vote for a Republican in 2022 but dear god McKee is just a shitty candidate.
Thisisfourme t1_itw8uik wrote
It truly is sad that we only have those two candidates to choose from, I realize they were others but they stand no chance of winning. I’m with you, there isn’t any Republican going to get my vote.

It’s not the best we can do, but it’s all we can afford
We have had great candidates fail to win primaries or third party candidates not get any attention.
But we cannot afford to out fund the donors who want the status quo to become more status quoyer

This is a perfect example of why our two party system doesn't work

I am not sure how Matt Smith, praised by the catholic church for his pro-life stance in 2016 would ever be considered a Democrat in 2022.
Is the point that she only has the support of people so forgetful or deceitful that they are registered with a party they don't share values with?

For being the state of “I know a guy” we sure do a shit job getting the right people on the ballot

Nellie Gorbea was a pretty decent candidate and would have made a great Governor.

If you have a conflicting view than other members of the party you are no longer part of that political party? Come on man. Is bill clinton no longer part of the democrats because his 1990’s stances are much more centered than todays progressive left?
radioflea t1_itxahe7 wrote
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again thank your fellow Rhode Islanders who decided to sit out on this year‘s primaries. Elections have consequences.

I wish smaller third party candidates could get some debate time. The rules are stacked against anyone that isn’t 1. Rich 2. Already a career politician.

Depends, does he still hold the same ideals today?
degggendorf t1_itxuyju wrote
In Cumberland, he was 15 points ahead of the next highest, compared to being 3 points ahead statewide.
Also in Cumberland, over 3x more people voted for him than Kalus.
Of all the valid criticism you could have leveled at McKee, why make something up that's so objectively false?

Ah okay, so the technique is to just throw everything at the wall and hope something sticks, and when it doesn't stick just throw more?
134,137 voted in the governor primary this year; notably more than the 117,875 who voted for the same in 2018.
>Voters were being turned away from polling sites due to last minute polling location changes. When given the information of where they could vote they were stating they wouldn’t even bother.
Source?
>People that were also registered democrats were specifically requesting for a Republican ballots during the primaries because they simply didn’t want him.
That doesn't even make sense. First, it's not possible, second, it wouldn't accomplish their stated goal. Third, you just made it up.
>This wasn’t a grand slam as some people are attempting to make it seem.
What "grand slam" do you think I'm trying for? I just mentioned the tiny McKee margin in the comment you just replied to.

Of all of those Democrats who allegedly achieved some sort of notoriety I only recognize one name.. pretty confident there are more than a few (R's) who will support McKee. Kalus is a carpetbagger, a place holder to speak, so she can try to follow in the footsteps what TFFG and his cabal want.
Kalus does not know all that much about RI, except it is place where she can fleece the public.
