Hello. I'm a beginner with shooting but want to get into it more. I have shot before with friends but want to be more independent. Any suggestions for gun safety classes, ranges, and advice on how to get a LTC. Thanks.

Midstate if you're...mid state. Good guys, nice place.

Edit: plan an extra 30 minutes for your first visit to learn about range safety and take their test.

Post to r/riguns as well. Options are one of the many clubs, state range at great swamp(never been, don't know the deal), or mid state in coventry. start w hunter safety course put on by the gun clubs/dem. good intro to safety and you can make some friends/contacts there.

Elite gun club, mid state, and soon mtr are all indoor ranges that just cost a range fee. DEM has an outdoor range that just requires an application and a safety course. If you’re in northern RI mtr should be open by the end of the year, at least that’s what the owner told me

Elite Indoor Gun range is, hands down, the best in the state. Great staff, great facility. No attitude and decent prices for what you get. Never felt uncomfortable. Look not further.

Elite in south county. Amazing. Friendly staff, reasonable membership if you go a lot. I can’t say enough good things.

Been a few times and I liked it. Brought a couple of friends that weren't familiar with shooting and they were very helpful with training and having them take a written test.

I do like Elite in South Kingston the best though.

I inquired about a firearm there once amd they kept trying to push a manufacturer on me that I didn't want, and claimed I didn't know what I actually wanted. If I wanted a Kimber I would have said that man

Yea I would have been thrown off a bit as well. I hate when retailers push manufacturers on you. That's why I'm not a fan of D&L in Warwick. I went looking for a handgun and specifically said I didn't want a Glock, and they were trying so hard to convince me. Like I get it, you get more money selling these, but I don't want that one lol.
