My wife is South Indian, I've been to India numerous times, and the only two restaurants in RI that are anywhere close to authentic Indian are Chennai Express (on Reservoir Ave ) and Godavari (in Cumberland, so outside your zone). Everything else is, for the most part, Americanized. Chennai has incredible biriyani, get the Chicken Special Biriyani. Also try Aloo Papdi chaat and Paneer Butter masala, with some garlic or butter naan.

Godavari is no joke.

I thought I liked spicy and I couldn’t even eat their medium!

It’s very good but I have to order mild each time.

Any of those places make aloo dum? It was a dish you could get in nyc pretty easily but I haven’t seen any RI places make it (guessing it’s a regional dish?).

If I was getting the electric chair and had to choose one last meal before I die, it would be the chicken tikka masala from Chennai. My favorite restaurant in RI.

I do not eat out much, but I do food delivery in the area. Chaska in garden city is probably the most popular & The Punjab Indian Cuisine is fairly popular as well

+1 for chennai express on resevoir ave, their food is also the most consistent in quality imo.

If you’re willing to go a bit South, Rasa in East Greenwich has excellent curry.

Check out Kebob and Curry on Thayer St. Hubby and I went with his mom last weekend and we really enjoyed it. Not super expensive either. Think for the three of us it was like $50. Definitely on the inexpensive side for Indian food in our opinion.

I actually work over that way so that would be a great choice for something I can grab on the way home! Thanks for your suggestion I’ll check it out :)

Chaska (Cranston) is the same restaurant group as k&c! So they’re probably pretty similar if the location matters

I was searching this subreddit for Indian recommendations and someone claiming Indian descent has said Curry Kitchen in Lincoln was really good and worth the trip. I haven’t gotten there myself yet.

My two spots are Not Just Snacks and Rasoi

Not sure if it's authentic but I like Chaska in Garden City. Good quality food and nice ambiance.
