Capital Grille in Providence is a great experience. Their steaks and lobster mac & cheese are phenomenal and the service can’t be beat. Even better, if you have a celebration (birthday/anniversary), they will decorate your table and give you a free dessert.

I second this, their service is incredible. When my sister was on her last stage from ALS, I brought her to the Capital Grille. They gave us the best last outing we could have ever had. They have my forever loyalty.

Capital Grill is good, but it’s a chain….I think OP was looking for something more exclusive to RI.

OP said new and near Providence. Just because CG is a chain doesn’t minimize that it’s a great place to eat. If they didn’t want chains, they should’ve specified.
