100%. I took my 4 year old there for the Leonid meteor shower and it did not disappoint.

Can you go to Ninigret Park at night when the observatory isn't open?
petertheo89 t1_j7rcxi6 wrote
I would either go to one of the beaches (for the wide uninterrupted view) or anywhere on the western border of the state for lack of light pollution

I don't see why you couldn't. Police station is across the street so they may make you leave if you're not supposed to be there but I doubt anyone would raise a fuss.
Frosty Drew is open year round and open to the public every Friday night: https://frostydrew.org/

I’m 30 and love this place so much. I can’t wait to bring my son there but I’ll go by myself if I get the chance. The observatory is so cool.

I think it technically closes at sunset, but I've never had any issues down there while doing astrophotography. I think as long as you're being responsible you won't have any issues.

There's a lot of good spots in Scituate around the reservoir and in Foster. The Woody Lowden Recreation Center is a good spot. Very little light pollution because there's not much for houses around or businesses and the baseball field is wide open. Arcadia Management Area is a good bet too. There are a couple fields right on Arcadia Rd next to Barber ln as well.

I’ve gone there when Frosty Drew was closed and there was a gate that was locked so I couldn’t drive in. Have you had that problem?

Block island no joke. Walk away from the main strip at night and look up. No light pollution.

When we couldn't get out of the city but wanted to see meteors, that's where we went, to the top. Probably the best as far as Providence goes.
The next night we went to Cumberland near the airport. That was better.

Hm, I never have, but I'll be honest I haven't been down there for a couple years now so idk if things have changed or not
