I remember watching him when I was a kid...20 years ago...he looks the same! I wonder if it's the TV makeup or he has other secrets lol
radioflea t1_j6snc8w wrote
He probably made a deal with Mother Nature that he can live forever so long as he always reports the weather.

I love this lol that makes sense!

I remember when I was younger in middle school, he flew to our school in a helicopter to talk to our school. It was so awesome seeing the helicopter come in and land. He is 😎

Yes. He will. We do not jinx that. Kelly Bates leaving last year was NOT COOL (glad she’s back at ABC) let’s not jinx Tony.

It’s funny how many people put servicing their heating systems on the back burner for the longest time, but scream they need it done usually right around the time the system breaks.

My dad actually did have to walk uphill both ways ... He walked uphill from home in the morning, then uphill to his uncle's house after school. Sometimes there was snow ...

I’d do anything for kids to be able to walk to school again. I know it was seen as a bad thing back then, but imagine if it was safe enough / close enough so that kids could get to school independently and walk with their friends?

I wish the US’s infrastructure was better planned so that walking was a more convenient option for getting around to different places, in general.

I’m from Iowa. The worst winter I remember there it didn’t get above zero for three weeks. Lots of -30 for lows. Everybody has block heaters on their engines and water lines are wrapped with electric tape to keep them from freezing. The only thing we had going for us was that we didn’t live in Minnesota or the Dakotas, they were always colder.

I was a kid in the 50's and walked to school every day. Mom was busy taking care of younger siblings. No school busses. In grammar school it was 2 miles round trip, in HS it was 4 miles round trip.
No big deal, we just did it... we weren't barefoot, we did wear galoshes in the snow & rain.
Later had a paper route and never missed a delivery.... it was what it was.

Fun science experiment, it might be cold enough to blow bubbles and they will freeze. When you break them, they shatter!

I really did have to walk to school uphill both ways.
Mind you, there was a downhill both ways too. So from home, up a hill then downhill to school. Same on the way back.

I've heard they're already planning on not having school because these wimpy kids can't deal with it!

Folks may not have had as many problems with subjecting children to frostbite conditions in the past, but that doesn’t mean that those kids didn’t grow into adults and realize how fucked up that was to do to kids.
”For example, for someone outside when the temperature is around five degrees and the wind is at 35 mph, frostbite can set in after about 30 minutes. If the temperature drops to -5 degrees with the same wind speed, frostbite can set in in about 10 minutes.”
Regardless, I don’t think that frostbite burns and kids losing the tips of their noses, ears, fingertips and toes is the solution to what you deem wimpy children.

This is way too many words for a joke about school being cancelled on a Saturday
citrus_mystic t1_j6to8ao wrote
Fair. Woosh; that went right over my head.
Apparently I’m not the only one who mistook your joke as a genuine comment though, so at least I’m not alone in my lack of observation skills.
(Edit- I will note that it’s safe to say we’ve all read people make similar complaints like that in earnest on here)
