Hey, *folks!

Sadly, I’ve been living in NYC for far too long but I’m visiting my best friend in Lancaster next week for a little mid-week girls staycation! She’s still pretty new to the area so I’m wondering if you lovely folks would be able to recommend some restaurants, pampering places, or just generally cool stuff we could do!

Thanks in advance!

*originally called ya'll "yinzers", my apologies!

Yinzers are Pittsburgh, not Lancaster/Philly. Lol

Go visit Lititz. It's really cute :)

If you want to dial up the cuteness to a billion, come to Lititz for the day. Spend the night at the Lititz Springs spa/hotel and you’re literally in the middle of everything. (Though the hotel at &rock Lititz campus is pretty cool from what I hear too, and is honestly like 5 minutes up the road.)

Even if you just come up for a day, it’s fun to play tourist. (I live here. I still play tourist) make sure to stop at Whiff coffee, Wilbur chocolate, and Tomato Pie Cafe (do breakfast there!) and make sure to do the Pretzel tour at Sturgis. Depending on the weather, the park is gorgeous, and the town is very walkable.

Downtown Lancaster has a LOT of fantastic stuff, but it changes so quickly. Are there particular things you and your friend are into? Art? Music? Cooking?

Jumping in to recommend my favorite place to eat in Littiz - dosie dough bakery! Super delicious sandwiches for breakfast or lunch!

I'm near the other Dosie Dough in Wyomissing and I just love their food so much! The European baguette is the BEST. Also their chocolate chip scones. I've never gotten the chance to go to the Lititz location.

OMG you are THE BEST! We’re already so excited to have breakfast at Tomato Pie! We did the pretzel tour last time I visited and we loved it! We’re both very into cooking (I always bring her a new kitchen gadget for us to play with) and I’m an artist so always enjoy exploring new town’s art scene!

Lancaster has lots of great historical stuff if you're into that - you can visit a whole bunch of places in a relatively small area. The downtown area of Lancaster city has a lot of cool things, like an escape room. Oh, and I definitely recommend Rolled Cold Creamery - hand rolled ice cream. It's amazing.

The view of the Susquehanna river is gorgeous in Lancaster County, if she's never tried birch beer you can find it everywhere

Take a class or visit the shop at the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen in Lancaster. The Queen Street neighborhood that it’s in has some great little shops that focus on handmade items.

Strasburg is fun. There are also wineries about if you’re into that kind of thing over in New Holland and Lampeter.

You better leave that yinzer shit on the west side of the Poconos where it belongs, for starters.

Yeah, I already addressed that in a previous comment but I must say your attitude is pretty inappropriate for a lighthearted recommendation request. I invite you to find the attention you desperately need elsewhere.

I don’t understand how you live in NYC and can’t handle banter.

Lol! Go up to a NYer with that “banter” and let me know how it goes!

Probably fine. They don’t seem like a sensitive bunch.

You clearly have never been to NYC then. To your point, I should have just told you to shut the fuck up and mind your own fucking business but since I’m originally from PA I thought I’d offer you a bit more respect. Reddit is always teaching me lessons!

You, on the other hand, seem like you wouldn’t get along with the vast majority of people from the 5 boroughs. I would highly recommend keeping your sensitive and easily-insulted self out of Philly.

My wife and I were in Lancaster at the end of October. There is an amusement park that is closed (for the season, I presume). As we were driving by, I couldn't help but say in my best John Candy voice: "Sorry folks. Park's closed. The moose out front should have told you." It was funny at the time. 😂

Then we went to Intercourse. I was excited when my wife suggested it. Totally not what I was thinking.....
