Pennsylvania residents and licensees have until 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, to opt in to one or more of the drawings for each of the two lotteries"

I'd love to be able to spend more than $20 on a bottle of booze.

From the lottery website: be sure to have your delivery address set to a fine wine and good spirits store. Not home address. And you can enter all the lotteries but if you win one you get removed from all others so be careful if you only want a specific variety.

I wonder what the odds are? I’d love to be able to buy one of these.

I was selected for the 2019 lottery for the 12 year.

Pretty cool experience, and even though I have other bourbon I like more (and is cheaper) it was great to pull it out for special occasions and share with others.

Like a chance to buy a bottle, or all the bottles?

vinnie5451 t1_iwifcos wrote

Why is it. Lottery and you just can’t buy them at the local wine and spirit anytime

bane117 t1_iwijwu9 wrote

these are produced in limited quantities by the distilleries and the state would only have been able to purchase so many for the year. high end whiskey takes years to make and they can't always predict advance demand so sometimes stuff like this is hard to come by.

Two things PA really loves: gambling and drinking. Two great tastes that taste great together.

I’m an outsider, moving to PA next week, and I don’t understand this at all. Are these state-owned bottles of alcohol or have they been confiscated?

princeoinkins t1_iwinocg wrote

Yea it’s too common anymore (Alabama, Idaho, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah and Virginia are state store states)

Liquor licenses can be a bitch too, so you’ll see places that are either beer only (beer isn’t state owned) or if they serve liquor then they have a FULL bar (lol) there’s no in between

Also liquor stores tend to have weird hours for that reason, so never assume they are open

My Guy. Thanks for the heads up!!! I was pissed I missed the allocation of Buffalo trace, Blantons, and eagle rare on Veterans Day.

How much if you win?

snuffy_tentpeg t1_iwj0bq6 wrote

Maybe those in charge will realize that grabbing any extra bottles for themselves is a bad idea.

Better yet, privatize the system and be done with it.

For those who are Uber lazy, hoops must be jumped through.

A Wine & Spirits account is needed, then a profile must be established, including payment methods and shipping location.

Ok I had chat with their IT people because something went wrong for me. Each email overrides the previous so even if you get multiple you are still only getting one entry for whichever lotteries you chose.

Do I have to have a PA license? I just moved over here within 40 days and haven’t gotten my ID yet.

This is the first year the Liquor Control Board employees can't just award themselves bottles. So we may have a chance.

Savings-Cry-7420 t1_iwjavxn wrote

So it’s not free? It’s just a spot to buy them?

geekRD1 t1_iwjbzr0 wrote

I'd get Angles envy (or the rye) or eagle rare (hard to find but able to get in state stores). Or even go for a basil Hayden's.

Bulleit 10 year is also a good option for less than half the price.

Also when I won the lottery it cost an addition ~$20 in shipping, even to my local store.

On top of what the other user has mentioned...

The same distillery produces and bottles some other, more higher-volume brands, which are sold at a very reasonable price. But they're almost always sold out. And since these bottles on auction are aged 10-23 years, they can't do anything in the short-term to increase supply.

That's some bullshit. Assuming it is coming from their warehouse already, they could ship it along with all the other booze they're sending to your store. WTF.
