It has higher than average crime but it's not like, Detroit or anything.

Might check the exact neighborhood with this website, as some spots are ok and others not so much::

https://crimegrade.org/violent-crime-16146/

>The D+ grade means the rate of violent crime is higher than the average US zip. 16146 is in the 23rd percentile for safety, meaning 77% of zip codes are safer and 23% of zip codes are more dangerous.

"Safer than 7% of U.S. Cities," which isn't much of a recommendation.

Might be less of an issue for a young adult male compared to someone looking to move with small children.

High crime, anything stored outside will be gone. Kinda the dump of the area.

What does your brother do for work? Sure it’s cheap, but employment opportunities are also scarce.

Sharon Pa is post industrial small town in western most portion of PA. Abuts Ohio. School district wise I can’t tell you how it performs but info available from PA dept of education.

No traffic, nice area for finding lots of outdoor things to do. About 1-1/2 hrs from Pittsburgh & Cleveland. Lots of sports teams to root for. Lots of local culture, plus city amenities are close by. Some Amish live outside the local surrounding area.

I’m from Youngstown & haven’t lived in Sharon but it is an adjacent town & I have traveled there for family visiting & festivals. October fest is great & Quaker Steak & Lube is a great place for wings.

As for crime, lock up your stuff, cars bikes.

There are a lot of affordable towns in western PA that aren't Sharon.

People over-obsess about crime figures. Most crimes are petty, and most victims know the perpetrators. In reality your lifestyle, people you associate with, education/career background, and other social factors have much more to do with your likelihood of experiencing crime than your place of residence.
