When does the right to possess a firearm supplant a person's right to be alive?

Why should we have free speech when Trump can say whatever he wants? Why should we have cars when tens of thousands are killed by them each year? This is America, we have God-given rights. With freedom comes risk and responsibility. Those worried about a statistically minimal chance of being a victim of of gun crime should move to China or Canada.

Amazing that humans survived so long before the Chinese... err, god discovered gunpowder for humankind. Just think of quickly David could have done away with Goliath with a gun instead of a slingshot. Think of all those people on top of the mountain in Masada who could survived had God given them guns. Imagine how Tiffany Fletcher might still be alive were Philly able to enact just a few sensible gun laws instead of those fn control freaks in Harrisburg enacting dumbass laws.

I just watched this info on guns and gadgets awesome news ! The GOA is doing great things across the board to help protect our 2A rights ! Now we just all need to get out and vote and get these people out of office who don’t care one bit about our rights or our safety and have there own agendas in mind whatever those are but I can gureentee they aren’t good for the average American we need to stop this tyrannical movement and vote correctly!!

Minute-Tomatillo-957 t1_ir270s6 wrote

That’s a very very ignorant statement and has zero validity the percentage of mass shooting is less than 1% compared to all other crime with guns . I think we all should be more focus on the criminals with guns not the law abiding citizen who just wants to protect there family and themselves . And if you actually took time to do some research you would know that more people use guns in self defense and saving others lives by a long shot than mass shootings . Even if you go with your unrealistic 450 mass shootings a year which is 4 or more people shot in an incident and those include gang shootings and turf wars . Now compare that to the half million people a year that use a gun in self defense to save there life or others . Those numbers speak for themselves . You literally have no idea what your talking about and luckily your thinking is the minority!

Good news for law abiding gun owners! Criminals and people who would shoot people were going to ignore this, now people can defend themselves; and you really can't blame them with how bad crime has gotten as of late.

−3

OccasionallyImmortal t1_ir1orzk wrote

The violent crime problem in Philly is huge. This EO was nonsense. It restricted having a gun in recreation areas, but the people who are shooting people in Philly don't care. Most of them are carrying guns they aren't legally allowed to possess nor do they have a permit to carry it anywhere. This just made what they're doing more illegal without preventing crime. It also restricts the ability of innocent people from being able to defend themselves especially since they're the only people who would obey this.

Outside of Hollywood productions? Probably single digits, in history. You're more likely to be disarmed of a knife than a gun, as it's very hard to take a gun from someone after they shoot you with it from 20 feet away. Attackers taking guns is movie crap.

You’re very narrow on your argument here. “Tiffany Fletcher”, “life, liberty, persuit of happiness”, all very well rehearsed. How about I give you an actual, real life scenario of people being unable to protect themselves: German citizens before WWII. Hitler and his counsel convinced everyone that having weapons for self defense was a terrible thing. And then he kicked off the worst war in history and killed over 6 million Jews. Do you think those people wished they had a way to fight back? Do you think they would have given anything for that chance? That’s why our 2A is so damn important but ignorant people like you forget all the times that public disarmament happened before actual atrocities. Will it ever happen here? Who knows. All I know is if it ever does I’ll be damn happy I have my guns and you can be in some mass grave somewhere happy in the knowledge that you didn’t own a gun because “guns are bad.”

3

2

heili t1_ir58eh7 wrote

People who are licensed to carry firearms are, as a demographic, even less likely to commit a crime than police officers.

Even the organizations that try to claim this is a myth can only lean on the fact that those who are licensed to carry are pre-selected as people with no known, documented criminal background so it's "unfair" to call them more law abiding. "Of course you'll claim they commit less crimes, they passed a criminal background check!"
