Does anyone know what the Pennie health plans cost in Western PA? Can't seem to find a price guide.
Go to Pennie.com and enter the info it asks for. It will give you lots of plans, prices, and how much of a discount you qualify for. It’s pretty simple.
Plans look expensive. Like $211 minimum. Way higher than last time I saw the health marketplace website.
Depending on your income, you may qualify for discounts. But yes, health care is expensive and keeps going up.
That’s the typical price for health insurance.
I remember plans on the Health Marketplace being available for around $100 a month.
I’ve never seen them that cheap without a significant income based tax credit
You need to put in your info to see if you qualify for a subsidy. But yes health care insurance is expensive.
The prices looked high when I first checked them. After I entered all the information they requested, I was able to get very affordable coverage. The deductible was more than I was used to, 75$ for a doctor's visit, but I had peace of mind knowing that I did have coverage. My monthly coverage was 59$ because I qualified for a discount. All I can say is try it and enter all your income accurately.
If you have any sort of medical condition or disability. (And I’m serious, any medical condition that needs to be managed in order to be able to maintain your ability to work.) you may be interested in applying for MAWD through the state’s Compass portal.
MAWD (medical assistance for workers with disabilities) is a special category of state funded medical with a significantly higher income limit than traditional Medicaid. This year’s limit is $36,459/year AFTER all allowable deductions. And 50% of income is disregarded. So a single person making $73k/year could still be eligible.
The catch is that it’s not free like traditional Medicaid. You pay a monthly premium of 5% of your monthly net income after all deductions. Someone making the absolute max to be eligible would pay at most $152/month plus small copays.
It’s all subsidized based on your income. I get me and my kid covered for 250 per month total which saves me 700 per month (and the coverage is twice as good).
