I recently had some vehicle issues. Long story short, engine failure. I have someone lined up to buy the vehicle, but I lost the title. I went to the notary and paid the fee for a duplicate title. I took the license plate off and transferred it to a new vehicle I purchased through a dealer. It’s been 3 weeks and I still haven’t received the title. I plan on calling PennDOT tomorrow first thing in the morning, but I was wondering if it had anything to do with the transferring of the plate that would cause delay or not receive the title at all?

Make sure it matches the vin. My aunt by marriage got pulled over by the cops she’s had this vehicle since early 2021 (or 2020) and when the police ran the insurance and the vin it was 1 number off so my uncle had to take off work to go dealer to get it fixed. Guess he got it fixed but unsure of how the police went

The dealership gave her the wrong vin?

I guess it didn’t match the insurance card. That’s what I was told he was going. Or the plate was registered to the wrong vin.

Needless to say my grandmother was disgusted at the whole situation. Unsure of how expensive the ticket was as well.

It can take a few weeks to get a title from PennDOT even in the best situation. I'd be patient. A call tomorrow wouldn't hurt.

The thing is, I went to the notary with someone who needed to do a title transfer so we made a trip out of it. Did the paperwork the same day and everything, he received his within 7 days after the transfer and I still haven’t received mine 😕

Idk then. You'll have to call. I bought a new car recently from a dealer and the title took about 3 weeks to show up from PennDOT.

Calling is the best idea.

I moved back to PA from Illinois. Had to have my car isdued a new title issued issued in pa. Took over 2 months at Penn dot. I get the feeling they ate a wee understaffed these days.

I’ve had a title vanish 3 times in the mail before. You have 90 days to complain and get a new one sent for free.

Title follows the vehicle/VIN not the tag so this shouldn't have any impact on it since they're two separate transactions. Probably not even the same deptartment in PENNdot. Double check your paperwork against the VIN on the car to make sure it is correct. With 17 characters, it's easy to get a letter or number swapped or missing

Duplicate titles can take longer. Think took me about a month last time I did it, and I went to AAA for it.
