You’d better stand way off to the side so that the x-rays don’t ruin your eyes.

I actually measured my old CRT because my work had a fancy meter, and it was way below any recomended values.

Yeah, it was more a thing our parents would tell us - “don’t sit too close to the TV or you’ll ruin your eyes”.
I don’t think there was any truth to the idea.
