It was sold as the Golf in 86? I thought that was the EU name.

All convertibles were made in Germany. The US Rabbits with the square headlights were made in Pennsylvania. They ended the Rabbit model name in 1984, but kept the Cabbie Mk1 until Mk3. (I think)
