I just did a little research on this bike. Very cool. Interesting thing I found out was you had to pay extra for the kick start.

A lot of motorcycles from these times where so called „push bikes“. You put in second gear, open gas/air some 20% and pull the decompression lever. Start pushing, release decompression and jump in the saddle as soon as the engine starts.
Some bikes had kick starters, others like Royal Enfield had hand operated cranks untill mid 20ies. Quite a job to crank start a 2 cylinder 900 ccm engine. 💪🏼
