I keep seeing comments like this, is this a movie reference or something, or does the perspective make it look like they are sitting in the beach? :D If it’s the later I asked and they were on a bench hahaha

No. German tourists were famous for digging holes on beaches to get out of the wind or something. Dutch people found that very weird and anoying so we still make jokes about Germans being "kuilengravers". Holediggers.
