The soundtrack was fire. Where are the hiphop movies for this generation?

Have you listened to the hip hop of this generation?

Killer Mike's somebody i think has a great mind and could produce a well thought out story. Jordan Peele directing.

Yeah that could definitely be watchable with the right cast. But I think part of what made those movies in the 90's so dope was the era it was set in. Hip hop was at it's creative height, the fashion, DJing, actual lyricism. Seems like it would be tough to capture that again. Just a special time to be alive IMO.
FoodGuy44 t1_j8btibm wrote
Still an underrated movie and soundtrack imo

Watched the hell out of this movie back in the high school days. Used to know most of the lines by heart, a classic!

This soundtrack introduced a lot of people to Cypress Hill. Their first album came out just a couple months prior, and it was kind of a new style of rap. Quite different from the Big Daddy Kane and Eric B. and Rakim stuff from the old school. Not better, but different.

Such a great movie. May not be up there with the likes of Boys in the Hood, or Menace II Society, but a very effective drama nonetheless.

I always thought it was crazy as hell that Tupac, a west coast rapper, came to Harlem to shoot this and played a character living in NYC. Never hated on Tupac after that.
