I know if there are bands with the similar raw energy that there is in this album. Also I like the funk punk style in the "heavy" songs like Stone Cold Brush, Nobody Weird Like me, Higher Ground. For example I heard that RAM and Faith No more have similar sound but I wanna know if that´s true. I know it won't be the exact same but I mean the energy in the songs.

Incubus second album S.C.I.E.N.C.E is also good and heavy with some punk influence. I think it’s a little better than fungus as they’ve defined their sound a little more. But it’s still chaotic/fast/heavy

One time I listened to SCIENCE by Incubus because a friend told me i’d dig it if i like RHCP. It sucked, never listened to them again. The reason RHCP is so good is because they’re unique and combine several different influences.

I've listened to Incubus but they didn´t call my attention. I think I just preffer the RHCP sound. The only band that called my attention was Infectious Grooves until now.

Funkadelic and Parliament heavily influenced their sound. So much that they got George Clinton to produce their 2nd album. I doubt you’ll recognize the similarity right away but it’s there.

Both bands are worth checking out. I would suggest Janes Addiction and Infectious Grooves.

Just get Freaky Styley and Uplift. OR...find a recording of any regional touring the college towns band from 1989 to 1991...they were all hitting the funk.

edit: also: the whole story

Yes, Faith No More is exactly what you are looking for. The Real Thing is a perfect album. You may be referring to Funk Metal which came out around that time (early 90's).

Fishbone, Living Color, Primus, Bad Brains (most songs are punk but some are funk metal), Suicidal Tendencies (skater punk with funk songs), Infectious Grooves.

Personally one of my favorite genres of the late 80's early 90's.

Thank you. But what is punk funk or which the difference with metal funk?

sorry, I may have been confusing. Bad Brains and Suicidal are mainly punk bands but play many funky metal songs.
