I have college oboe auditions due over video in 4 days and I’ve been very sick for around 3 weeks and don’t think I will be better enough to record on time. If there is an application deadline, what do I do?

You can ask for an extension or you can go ham at some steam. Steam your face and sinuses then record some oboe then steam again then record again. You should be spending like 5-10 minutes recording and like 5-10 steaming. Do that a few times throughout the day spread out.
Smaller but frequent practice chunks will also help you learn faster than any binge session. Take breaks often don’t play through any fatigue.

Build or find a Time Machine, go back in time till about day 4 or 5 of being “very sick.” See a medical professional.

To add, it was first Covid, then the flu, and now a kidney infection in succession. I’ve been to the doctor multiple times. Very very unlucky.

This is how the gig works. Life happens so just record every day from now until the deadline and pick your best of the bunch. As a musician and father I will give you unhelpful advice that you shouldn’t have waited until now to record. Also, I hope everything works out cuz the rest of us can’t tune up without you oboists.
