Should've made the title "Musicians writers workshop".

I am trying to find talented and creative musicians, regardless of genre, that are driven, believe in themselves, and want to improve while helping their peers.

Think of it as a writer's workshop. Everyone brings what they're working on, shares it with the group, and then we give each other candid feedback, where everyone has a strong enough sense of confidence that they can take being told "this song sucks because______. What if you tried _____ instead?"

The end goal is support and improvement in a shared goal - making amazing art.

If this resonates with anyone and you are ready to leap from nobody to grammy, hit me up. I am thinking 6-8 members that rotate as people fall out and new ones jump in.

EDIT: anyone that thinks "wow get off your high horse" - you're not the kind of person I'm looking for. Yes this is will sound arrogant. I would say "confident." And I don't have the patience for mediocrity. (INB4 fuck you). The people that are truly unique and talented will know what I'm talking about. We are shunned by people for being more genius than they are, which creates a feeling of insecurity in them).

What are you trying to do? Just like do some file share type of stuff through the web and maybe try and make some songs that way?

Nope. It's just like a writer's workshop. We get together once a week to share songs we're working on, then rip them apart, build them back up, and share in each other's success.

That sounds interesting. Like songs people are making alone? I have done I think 3 tracks the past few months with the machine mk3, bass, guitar, piano that I thought would be cool to get feed back on.

Yeah exactly. I'd be happy to give you feedback on them. I'm going to be completely honest FYI, and it all comes from a place of love and appreciation.

In other words, if I think they suck, I'm not saying that to make you feel bad. I'm saying it to give you areas to improve. You can PM me the links.

Yea I'm not a master guitar player or anything I can take constructive criticism I know enough to be able to make a interesting drum track that's in time in machine and be able to pick up the prs and add something to that that's interesting on the guitar and pick up the bass and add another layer to that and then make up for my lack of talent when I'm mixing something basically 😂

Think about it this way - I am looking for people that create things a computer could not do.

You have anything you have been working on? When I'm done work in the afternoon I'll throw the file converter back on the PC and upload something for some criticism lol

I've been working on one LP and 4 EPs. I don't want to expose too much so my R/ username isn't tied to it.

I wish I knew more people that were into playing . on the rare occasions where me and my buddy are drinking some beers with the machine going and the PRS hooked to the eleven rack coming out the dual 15" jbls we can make some stuff that sounds sweet just spontaneously

Since I just got my Paul Reed Smith all dialed in again and have been practicing again I have been jamming some stuff on the eleven rack to reaper thinking it would be cool to fart around with someone

What I'm really looking for is creatives and artists. It's funny when people ask me what I play. It's irrelevant. It's about the creation.

Thus why I say it's like a writer's workshop. Chuck Palahniuk describes it here, but imagine it is music and lyrics instead of books. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3B_GETr2Ck

I know what ya mean I think. I always have people being like can you play this can you play that were I get more enjoyment out of using things I have learned from playing this and that for months and making it into something unique

Asimir-Quazikz OP t1_j1y8zw9 wrote

Hah yeah. I barely know any other people's songs besides riffs here and there. Anyone can learn to play a shred metal solo if they practice enough and have fingers that work. Not everyone can make something unique. That's all I care about.

But for real, I'd be happy to listen to your songs and give constructive thoughts.

I’ve studied Piano my whole life, both Jazz and classical. Yet I am extremely out of place anywhere modern music. If it’s not hip hop or country, then people generally tune out.

Jazz and classical are the most under-appreciated genres IMO. It's like..."oh...I have to think and feel to enjoy this. Nah."

But I think any genre can be amazing. Zac Brown Band is incredible country music. Illmatic by Nas is incredible Hip Hop.

Instrumental prowess is a sign of narcissism to the non musician.

That is that high horse you just mentioned. And yes, it is better to get off the same. Because that statement alone makes me think you are not even close to being genius.
