Chilled music to strike the right note in a coffee bar.

We run a coffee bar for a couple of hours a week at a community centre. I’ve tried to introduce a relaxed atmosphere, playing chill stuff that people might not be familiar with – Gotan Project, Buena Vista Social Club, acoustic folk, that sort of thing – but people just screw their noses up and give me a What the hell’s this? kind of reaction.

The only thing that goes down well is familiar stuff. Old ‘60s hits and the like. Any thoughts on what might strike an acceptable note without being clichéd?

You're definitely gonna want Hammer Smashed Face by Cannibal Corpse. Makes for a very chill atmosphere.

Try something like Khruangbin - Texas Sun or Skinshape - Filoxiny. I play those two bands at work all the time
