His label was mad at him for his previous record, which was electronic/synth heavy so he offered them a Country album he had previously recorded but they rejected it and demanded a “rock” album. So, Neil being Neil, he formed a backing band called The Shocking Pinks and made a 50s style rockabilly album.

The label was so mad that they shut down recording before Everybody’s Rocking was completed and released it “as is”. They then sued him for ~$3 million for making albums that were “uncharacteristic of his previous work”. He then countersued for breach of contract, because his label had offered him complete artistic freedom. He won and the label publicly apologized lol

No problem. There are a bunch of little nuggets like that throughout his career but this one is by far my favorite.
