I did a little search. Cheapest metal-seemed guitar in MA's website is 120USD. That's more than I was getting with my scholarship, let alone the other things like amps and cabinets. I would rather upgrade my PC to focus on the details by ear and buy a sound card than buy physical objects. However, I am still learning music by studying and practising at the same time.

Wow that’s a small scholarship my friend. I don’t know what else to tell you though, nothing will sound more authentic than a real instrument. Anyway, good luck!
