I'm a CoF fan, don't know much about Ed but I have to admit that the forthcoming collab has really piqued my interest. Perhaps it's bc it's bringing metal to a potential new audience or maybe it's just morbid curiosity. I have read that they're releasing it for charity so I really like that aspect. Thoughts?

Ed Sheeran surprises me, he did a collaboration song with Chris Stapleton and Bruno Mars called Blow. I was pleasantly surprised.
I appreciate the fact that he does what he wants to do, even presumably collabs that don't really make sense for his core music.
That's wild, I can't imagine there's too much audience overlap between CoF and Ed Sheeran's demographics. I'm not going to hold my breath in anticipation of it being good, but I absolutely need to listen to it out of morbid curiosity.
