Yeah they do. I’m glad they are doing a great thing by showcasing indigenous rights but they’ve conformed their sound for the sake of commercial success. Good for them I guess but none of their latest work has compared to their run from ‘05 to ‘11. That was interesting stuff. Once they did the Jäegermeister tour they went from producing interesting albums to pretty generic, single focused tracks which is hard to disagree with the success, but I followed them closely from ‘08 - ‘11 and they just aren’t the same. I know I’m acting an asshole for saying they sold out and I hate fans who do that, it’s just that the Jäegermeister sponsorship and subsequent albums were gross. Rebel for kicks got old after two weeks only because of the amount it was played yet we were beaten over the head with it for over a year.

You could just be glad they're successful and enjoy their old stuff. The old stuff didn't go away just cuz you don't like their newer stuff. So instead of appreciating them doing a good thing, you decide to be a downer and complain about them changing.

And normally that’s what I’d tell other people too. It’s just that being there for their small shows in front of 300 people, watching their rise, being excited for it and then having it culminate into a Jäegermeister sponsorship with subpar albums that didn’t compare to their early years was so anticlimactic and disappointing.

I’m not going to go around saying you’re wrong for liking their music or Portugal. The Man should care about what I think because they absolutely should not and they made it. Thats great for them. They are living their dream so good for them. With that being said, I’m not about to stay silent on a public forum when someone says “they never miss.” They have certainly missed more than once. But to end on a positive, I think it’s great they are making news by spotlighting indigenous rights. At the end of the day, that matters most and they didn’t miss on that.

I have only recently heard of the name Portugal. The Man, like in the last few months. But I've heard "Feel it Still" a bunch and love it. Had no idea that was the same group.

Also nice to see a disabled person as a successful musician, that's not a terribly common thing!

I'm from Alaska, and they were my first ever concert (in Washington, unfortunately). Love these guys. Glad they're supporting good causes.
