Would you tell a friend you like a band if you’ve only heard 2 out of their 10 albums?
Would you say you like a singer if you’ve only heard their most popular singles?
Just curious!

Yeah, sometimes when I'm getting into a band I space listening to all the albums out so the discovery period can last longer
I think if I've listened to at least enough if an artist's stuff to get a general idea of what they sound like and I've liked just about every song up till that point I'd say I like an artist. There's no black and white threshold for me, and I don't expect anyone else to have heard someone's entire discography to say they like a band either. I may have a higher threshold for how much I've listened to when I say someone is one of my faves though.
I use the term 'neophyte' a lot when I'm not completely versed in a band's catalogue. If the person I'm talking to knows less, no biggie, and if they know more, they'll likely be excited to tell me more. Win/win
You can say "Im enjoying X"
I’m only comfortable saying that I love two bands and I’ve heard 99% of their songs
I’ll say I like an artist or band even if I only know 5 of there songs
if it's less than 10%- just few albums for ex- I'll just recommend a specific album
if it's over say 60% ish- I'll suggest the artist
Yes, even if I only like the one song I ever heard from them. But I will be up front about that. Eventually, I will get around to listening to more of their stuff. Maybe.

All of it not name live or comp albums
It depends. I’d open with
I really like X genre, which includes artists like X, Y, Z
And then I’d say but who I’m currently listening to the most is A, B, C
And of course there can be overlap. I have a broad taste and so who I typically like, fan over, and recommend may not be what I’m currently stuck into.
For instance, I primarily listen to Alt Rock. But am currently in a Chopin and Liszt phase.
I’ve prob listened to their most important and prolific era of a albums from when they were the biggest of most popular bc that’s likely their greatest albums

That's such a good question! I don't think I'd say I 'liked' someone's stuff unless I was familiar with a lot of it. I would say 'I've only heard x' ... to someone who (I'd hope) could introduce me to new stuff.
