Yeah, I also don't get the hate. I purposely don't want a lot of flex in my gaming board, which is why I didn't grab a PC plate when I got the flex kit, that was mostly for the improved sound. Even if you hate Core (which admittedly is pretty much trash), you can flash QMK and just use VIA/VIAL like most other enthusiast boards.

I think it’s a bit of gatekeeping, in the end. The idea of a gasket mount with a firm typing feel made some peeps mad, but it was one of my first boards and I still appreciate it as a firm type feel option.

As someone whose first board was a GMMK Pro, I think it stems from the board just not being good and still being expensive. I wouldn’t have got into MKs if it wasn’t for it, but compared to the QK65 and other budget boards, it’s just not a great value.
Regardless, it’s a fine entry board and always in stock, which is really nice for people getting into the hobby.

I think the initial hate was due to qc issues, but glorious fixed those pretty fast. Now I think it’s due to the fact that the keychron q1 is a better choice.

It’s because Glorious has questionable ethics and there are better options for that price point. Sure, there are other boards with less flex but they either don’t purport to be gasket mounted or are priced considerably lower. Charging an additional $100 for a “flex kit” that fixes their initial design flaws is an example of one such slimy business practice.

Most of the hate stems from Glorious, who has no lack of contraversy, and had a pretty shit debut board.

I was so glad they looked so good together! It’s so hard to tell from pics online when picking potential combos but this combo is legit gorgeous.

That’s only changed as the board became older, it happens with every board becoming outdated. It gets hate because there was pervious controversy over the holy pandas they made and that fueled the fire of the deceiving marketing of the board. That’s it, it was just the marketing that people disliked

They also got in hot water for some keycap color ways if I remember correctly.

Oh ya I remember that too, it had something to do with alexotos and gpbt

Put on their Aqua top plate, along with their new Flex Kit on the bottom. PTBFans Kabuki-Cho caps, and TCC Bluish Whites that I’ve been using on this board.
Flex kit details: Used the middle poron foam gaskets, along with the thicker Gfoam to the case and the Gfoam plate foam. Still using the alu plate so not gonna get a ton more flex, but there is some there now when it was pretty much solid before.
Sound is a lot more foamy and marbly too, to my ear!
As for GMMK Pro: yeah, the Pro isn’t the best keyboard out there at full price. But, I do appreciate the ease of modification, availability of parts, and their general approach to being cool with hardware AND software modifications.
I also recently needed to deal with their CS as the RGB on my board died. After a modicum of hoops to jump through to prove what I was saying, they just gave me store credit equal to the full price of the board even though I had lost the receipt. I don’t know how many hobby manufacturers would do that, or have replacement part stock available a year after the product is sold.
