It's not racist. In fact, I think a bunch of white people trying to make ethnic food is cultural appropriation, espeically when they haven't been to that particular country. That's racism. When you try to pass shit off as your own but you've never been outside of Maine.

You know what is racism? Using a person's ethnicity to decide what they can and cannot do. That's racism. Like, it is literally the definition (albeit paraphrased) of racism.

I never said they can't do it. I said they don't do it well.
People of color agree with me - this includes all of my friends, family and aquaintances. Koreans for example, aren't going to go to a "Korean" restaurant run by Jake and Sam, who haven't even ever been to Korea. Nope. They will laugh and go someplace that is run by Koreans, because they want to taste a little bit of home.
Food is culture. If you don't understand the culture making the food, chances are you aren't going to get that food right. This has nothing to do with racism, and you're an idiot for thinking that it does.
White people and others telling themselves that they can serve up anything they want and do anything they want is all well and good. It's a free country and you can serve almost anything. But don't expect someone from that actual country to eat there, because they probably won't.

The fact that you call me an idiot for your racist words is mildly funny. Go on, keep telling me how stating that an ethnicity can't do something well solely based on their ethnic make up isn't racist. I'll pop some popcorn, because it will be entertaining to see how you try to justify it.

Clearly you have some terrible reading comprehension skills. Again:
>I never said they can't do it. I said they don't do it well
What part of this don't you understand exactly? It's pretty fucking clear, pal.
Also, racism against white people isn't a thing. You can pretend that it is, but it's not.

Also, see: https://www.issuesonline.co.uk/articles/can-white-people-experience-racism
If you think that I'm wrong, you're probably the racist. But you know, this being Maine and all..... I can't say I'd be surprised. Disappointed, but not surprised.

When you use someone's ethnic make up as your reasoning for saying they can/cannot do something (whether you add "well" into it or not) you are being bigoted. Caucasian people are in fact an ethnic group, so yes, racism against Caucasian people does exist.
Make all the assumptions you please, you're using racist arguments to support your claim. You're acting as if no Caucasian person is capable of learning how to cook food of another culture, not every Caucasian cooks like Jamie Oliver you know.
child_of_air t1_j7x9ajm wrote
Ah ha! Your white fragility is totally showing! CAUCASION PEOPLE ARE NOT AN ETHNIC GROUP. You are confusing "race", which is an unscientific label, with ethnicity. CAUCASION PEOPLE ARE MADE UP OF MULITPLE ETHNIC BACKGROUNDS. Do I really have to fucking explain this?!?
One more time, obviously you need to work on your reading comprehension skills, or lack thereof:
>I said they don't do it well
Operative word being "don't." You need to go back to college, or maybe even high school.
ShroomFoot t1_j7xk27l wrote
Typical bigot. You've made so many assumptions based on your bigoted view of Maine, it is pathetic. You're singling people out based not upon their skill, but how they look. You're just the typical bottom of the barrel bigot. Unfortunately there are several billion people like you.

You called "White" an ethnicity?! You're the fucking racist idiot. Fuck off.
