I was just wondering if somebody had any experience or knowledge regarding this issue. I'm currently staying at a motel, and one of the people that live here sits in his truck and excessively revs his engine. I mean 9..10.. 11 at night. Aside from complaining to the hotel manager (which has been done multiple times), is the next logical step to call the police?? I really don't want to bother law enforcement with such an asinine issue, but something should be done about this. Some people have to wake up and go to work. The people who run the motel and this offending person are asshole buddies, so there is never any help from them aside from the usual "I'll talk to him" advice?

I mean... I would talk to him yourself personally.

Step 1. Verify the truck is NOT a Dodge. Step 2. Engage in talk... "Hey Bub, nice truck, that thing got a Hemi ?" Since it is not a Dodge he responds.. "No" You then say, "Oh well it sounded like a hemi at 11pm last night, could you make it sound more like a Prius tomorrow night?"....

... disclaimer..... If it IS in fact a Dodge, this may not work. Please replace the word "Hemi" with "LS1"

Police are frequently called to hotels and motels. They can assess the situation, and at least you tried. Just call the station, don't bother the emergency 911 operators.

Call the Jon emergency number at the police department, but let hotel know first so they have a chance to deal with it

The answer is to switch motels - a truck engine being too loud on private property is not something the police are going to do anything about.

Nothing you can really do about it outside of asking nicely if they'll stop. Police can't really do anything

You either want to do something ... or ... you want to do little more than bitch about it on reddit. See if you local muni has a noise ordinance. Just by inquiring at town hall, you might get some action.

In a perfect world they’d apologize and stop when asked. If that doesn’t happen, it may be easier and less stressful to remove yourself from the situation by changing motels or getting earplugs or noise cancelling headphones and a brown noise app. (Or, you know, birds and waterfalls, whatever white noise pleases you)

There are a number of things you should definitely not do, such as putting either water or sugar in the gas tank.

Appreciate that reply. I have talked with him. That was the first thing I did. Figuring adult's can be adults but then he threatened me with "popping my effin head in* and running me over the next time I walk my dogs I only include his remarks to give you an idea on the kind of Neanderthalic thought process on this fake tough guy. You just can't reason with somebody who doesn't understand the meaning of the word reason.. or the meaning of word for that matter. scratches chin
