Last night I had a flashback to scallops swimming in butter and Ritz cracker crumbs that were a fav at The Pilot’s Grill-in Bangor-the pub cheese was so good too-and I loved the wait staff, some of them worked there for decades-anyone else remember the Pilot’s Grill or is Reddit the wrong demographic?

I remember going there sometimes with my family as a kid… I remember it felt SO fancy, and I have a memory of eating assorted breadsticks there. Lol. I loved them! I wish it was still there :(

The breadsticks and pub cheese are the only thing I remember about that place.
I also remember that after it closed the BDN ran a story about a “gentleman’s club” that wanted to move in to the old spot. People got all up in arms about that and complained so the Bangor city council changed their mind about allowing them to have both adult entertainment permit and a liquor license at the same time so they withdrew the applications.

Pilot’s Grill and Paul’s were both staples, but personally I’ll never miss anything more than I’ll miss Miller’s buffet.

Sadly, I never got to eat there. I moved here after it closed.

I saw a photo of the old Millers last night. I was thinking about how much I miss the buffet.

Pilots was my first real job back in the 1990's, it was a wonderful place to work, Bill Zoidis was a wonderful man, we all miss him very much.

It was Miller’s Red Lion or Captain Nicks for me

I loved millers as a kid, but I secretly think it maybe was the worst restaurant on earth and if I saw it now I'd be pretty grossed out by their extremely bad and dirty buffet.

I know people who worked there for years. It was better then you would think but not great.

I only ever wen once in the 6 years I spent in Orono. Had a disastrous date there with a woman with whom I had NOTHING in common. It was seen as the only real, "nice" restaurant in the area. always wanted to go back and enjoy the place as so many people had they they did.

Your post makes me miss it. So many classic restaurants gone.
