Girlfriend and I are looking to move to Maine this year (wild me to say it like that now) and I wanted to know which card store(s), specifically ones that host MTG events, are some of the better ones in the state? My line of work is semi-flexible with where I can get the jobs, so I wanted to see which area has some of the better gaming store options. Thanks in advance.

Weekend Anime and Games in Westbrook and Game Citadel in Bangor are great, they hold weekly tournaments, mostly MTG and Warhammer but they do some other stuff as well. TLK Trading in LA is pretty cool but I don't really know if they hold events. Bull Moose is a record store chain that also deals in nerd accoutrement with locations across Maine and NH but being a larger company they don't really do events that often.

Depends where you are. Weekend anime is nice. If you're within striking distance of NH I'd suggest jetpack comics in Rochester. They're much better than anything around here by a very large margin.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions so far :)
Also kind of weird that this post is getting downvoted; is it because I say I'm moving to Maine xD?

Yes, this sub is quite anti-visitor and anti-transplant. Maine in general can be a bit insular but this sub takes it to a new level. It's not personal.

Game On is great. Super nice people. Having moved around a bit and played in many game stores, I also have to say that the crowd there has above average hygiene for MTG players too.

Sounds like a problem folks need to get over, especially if this is meant to be a front-face of the state kind of sub.

There used to be more card stores in the Portland area but they started to disappear even prior to the pandemic.
They're still a decent amount of folks around for impromptu drafts though. Probably plenty of space to start a shop too! It's a nerdy area imo.

Yeah I tend to agree it is not welcoming or productive, but I don't think the sub is "meant to be" anything. It is what it is.

Bangor has a sub hub of gaming in general, but you won’t find much in the way of dedicated play every day…but if you are fine with being a nomad, there are options.

Are you sure? Where is that vibe?
