My husband recently had a bad accident and was life flighted to Portland. He already did his long hospital stay and is on the tail end of it, but all his doctors are in Portland and he has an appointment today there and we live about 2 hours away. It's a pretty important thing and I really don't think it should be put off but I'm wondering how bad the roads are and if it's even safe ?

It’s wet and windy but close to 50 degrees so no ice on the roads. Might be some downed trees along the roads. I’d call the hospital and see what they think. It’s actually pretty calm right now and not raining much.

I drove from Saco to Portland this morning (fully recognizing that this is nowhere near the length of the drive you'd make), but it wasn't so much the condition of I-95 as much as it's the 40-50mph gusts of wind that will catch your vehicle. I'd say it's doable but be cautious. Also I was in my Tacoma without 4wd on.

Commercial likely underwater by this point? This is secondhand. Maybe someone in Portland can confirm.

I live down the street from Maine Med and it’s not bad in here, just rainy with occasional huge wind gusts. Be really careful on the turnpike, though. I hope your husband has a quick recovery from his accident!

You could of just said yes or no or better yet kept scrolling and not been a dink. Really winded way to say you didn't like the question. I wanted to get the importance of the appointment across so people could somewhat help with weighing the pros and cons of traveling in this vs. setting his recovery behind and fucking up a pretty important schedule. Also, you notice it's always the people that actually talk shit about other people driving that are usually shit drivers or complete asshats on the road ? Who hurt you? Why are you so damn angry?

I would recommend calling the doctor's office / practice before you leave - some may have cancelled non-critical appointments today.

FWIW … I just got back from taking Mom down for an appointment at MMC. We came from Bath. It was windy, and quite rainy at times, but generally fine.
