It's magical outside right now. Is there some dust or ash from afar, or am I just dumb and this happens all the time?

Yeah! A sunrise like this imparts such a wonderful golden glow on the ground - reminiscent of late spring. Whatever it is, hope it sticks around.

My theory - it's a combination of the angle the sun rises at this time of year, and the cold dry air.

Proximity to the sun/angle of light (we are at one extreme of this rn), sunsets/sunrises become more vivid because of lower humidity and cleaner air.
Happens every winter.
Will point out, sunrise is a bit later right now. We get epic one's in the morning in the summer, but less are awake.

I always imagined it was the angle of the sun, we have incredible sunrises in January-feb and crazy sunsets in the fall.
Sunsets have been insane all over the NE too.
I've noticed this in previous years, too. From November through March we get beautiful sunrises at my home.

Not sure what’s causing it, but I’m certainly appreciative of the colorful skies. Such a good way to greet the day.
