Googled jackalope tracks with no luck. Probably a samsquanch.

I hope it's not a samsquanch, I hate those f*cking bastards.

Obviously this. Need a banana in the pic to tell if it was a Giant Jackalope.

Looks like rabbit

Looks rabbit to me but hard to tell for sure without anything to put it to scale. Could also be grey squirrel, they make a similar pattern of hind feet to front feet.

While u r right about the pattern. if u look at the prints where the hind feet made a mark, u will notice that they are long prints. Squirrels normally dont leave long prints like that.

True. Now, the true question is, was it a New England cottontail or a snowshoe hare? My guess is hare just because they are far more common.

Wow, TIL different rabbits in Maine than in MA.
bubba1819 t1_iyesgdq wrote
Yup, Maine is the northern range of the New England cottontail, but we predominantly have the snowshoe hare which isn’t even a true rabbit.

You're right, we need a Banana for scale

If they are about the size of a cat's paw they are rabbit, if they are smaller they are grey squirrel

No banana for reference? Idk if you took this photo from a helicopter or the ground. Or a helicopter still on the ground? Could be a rabbit or it could be a giant rabbit.

I took it from a helicopter on the ground.
