Looks like 181 units in Brunswick, 282 in Kittery. I would give these a 28.6% chance actually coming to fruition given both towns well established NIMBY tendencies (Kittery killed a 900 unit project not long ago, and Brunswick put a 180 day moratorium on all development earlier this year). Time will tell I guess.

I like the optimism but 28.6? Bud, no way they are that good. Last I heard Brunswick was trying to buy the land off the developer to keep it from getting developed, I can't imagine Kittery is any less NIMBY.

Wasnt the Brunswick land purchase because the development could harm aquaculture sites nearby?

Yes. Clam bed was toasted this summer. Lots of dip shits still fertilizing their lawns.

Kittery is way more nimby. Brunswick is actually pretty good but that site has some challenges. I believe that the Brunswick moratorium was to give them time to craft affordability requirements.

Kittery came down with a case of affluenza.

Live here, and yes, it definitely leans that way. Don't even get me started on the insanity around leash laws on Seapoint Beach. I really think the town would benefit from affordable housing, currently overpaying for a below market apartment in the village and would love to see us embrace a healthier mindset around rents that aren't the same cost as a mortgage.

Why does anyone care if they are building on the base? That’s is the perfect area for development….

I don't think anyone cares about that site. The one where the town is buying the site is close by Maquoit Bay. https://www.bangordailynews.com/2022/11/23/news/midcoast/brunswick-maquoit-bay-purchase/

Thank you.

As a midcoast Mainer I thought priority group owned nearly all the land on the base and is the group in charge of developing it or selling/leasing for development.

I think even Brunswick residents would agree the base is the perfect place for new multi-family housing.

I mean just in the past few years a whole condo complex sprung up just as you enter off bath road. Looks like another is on its heels too!

Sure would be sweet to get a 1 bed under $1400-1600 but that won’t happen

2024 delivery sounds like they consider the entitlements process to be achievable despite the usual hysterics from abutters. Still, Katniss hand symbol
