My brother has a son with autism and is thinking about making the move up here to be near my wife and I. I don't have any kids in school so figured I would ask here. Does anybody have any suggestions about some schools that are good for someone with autism?

TIA

Locations would help a bit. It seems as though your brother wants to live close to you, Maine is a pretty decent size. I'm willing to bet a bunch of bigger schools have more programs for special needs, so I'd look into the southern half of the state for sure.

Then you have housing to worry about, and job opportunities (unless he's remote or has something in the works).

I do not need such programs for my family, so my knowledge of them is very limited. With a little for information provided, someone else may be able to help you better though! Good luck!

I’m not sure about schools in Bangor (I’m southern), but I do know Maine has a great program called Section 28 for kiddos on the spectrum. I run such a program in southern maine. Kiddos do need mainecare to qualify (you can get mainecare that isn’t based on economic need just for the service - it’s called “Katie Beckett mainecare”) and it’s 1-on-1 service with a child and a BHP to increase skill levels. There are school-based section 28 programs in Maine as well!

Look up ecco LLC in Skowhegan. Works with young children and has a daycare facility for autism. And the people are great humans. Also used to do home visits weekly.
