I have not given birth here, but I personally wouldn’t want to be there if any major emergencies took place during your birth. They do not have a NICU and would have to transfer you out if there was a major issue (with baby or with you). If things are status quo and go smoothly, I’m sure it’s perfectly lovely. I grew up in York and for anything major, we’d go elsewhere.

To my own point, maybe just ask what they do in the case of an emergency. Where do they transfer you and what does that process look like (ambulance/air lift)?

Portsmouth hospital is a ten minute ambalamps ride. I believe new parents also get lobster rolls at the hospital. The food is great and people from town eat lunch there, or they did in the before times.
