I'll make one amendment - if you're holding the gun, safety is on you, not anyone else.

(this is me disagreeing with "defer to hunters". No. Hunters need to defer to literally everyone else.)

This is dirt road etiquette not hunters etiquette. It's about doing the polite thing. Could you blow by a hunting that's going after a partridge? Sure. Are you a dick for doing it? Yes. But I also believe in the "don't trust people" theory where I'm not going to trust every hunter not to throw lead at my car. Is it extremely unlikely? Yes, but it's something worth considering

Dirt road etiquette applies to the hunter too. "Share the road" goes both ways

It does. Which is why I specified if you see a hunter out of their vehicle after something. This makes it so the hunter was there first and began their activity and the polite thing to do is let the hunter do their thing then pass on by after

Need help with the differences between bombing,flying and ripping. If my hunch is correct and they all mean the same thing, 1 and 3 contradict each other? Also like to add, if you see a vehicle pulled off to the side, leave them alone… stoners and teens in lust are people too.

Ripping up the road is rather literal, fishtailing, peeling out, spinning your tires, things that put holes and ruts in the road. Not the same as just driving fast.

If I may add on... it most certainly is not legal to hunt from the road. You must be a minimum of 100 feet from the shoulder.

Only for paved roads.

Meh.. it’s all the same in the eyes of Johnny law… these are merely your personal rules of etiquette on dirt roads. I don’t live in Maine for someone else to tell me what and what not to do. The only rule of etiquette should be, don’t be a ‘see you auntie.’
