Fidium just went live with their fiber service in my area. I'm already spoiled and have 1 gig / 1 gig fiber service with GoNetspeed. Fidium is offering 2 gig / 2 gig service for only $15 more a month. I'm curious how Fidium has been for those of you who already have their fiber for some time now. I have no complaints about GoNetspeed but am a glutton for as much bandwidth as possible.

They are doing some fiber work in my area (L/A) cant wait for it to go live so I can ditch Spectrum finally. Honestly 2GB is overkill, 1/1 is more than most anyone would ever need.

I’ve had their 50/50 since last Fall, and it’s been great for me. I don’t do too much in the way of downloads and uploads, that I don’t mind waiting for. Honestly, I’d waste that $15 more a month on something more fun 😂

We've had Fidium since October in Durham. We were happy to dump Xfinity.

500Gigabits up and down here in Waterville. We have had it a few months. Install was an hour.

All my streaming content is cranked up to the highest definition, and there is still plenty bandwidth left.

I've been on Fidium's cheapest plan since last fall. It has been 100% reliable, and every speed test has met the advertised speeds.

I spent the previous 8 years using my cell phone hotspot as my home internet, so even the slowest plan is pretty good for me.

1gb plan in Augusta since oct or nov. Works great. Good up time.

To be fair i had zero issue with Spectrum. Fidium simply delivers a better value with faster overall speed for the money as well as uncapped upload.

As i evangelize on every Fidium post I respond to, use your own equipment. Their techs have access to your settings if you use theirs.

Honestly it's been way better than Spectrum.

This.
I called and asked them to match the fiber rate….sorry, you’ve got the best rate we currently offer. Ok, I’m going to cancel. Got transferred to the cancelation department and within a minute, my price was reduced to match the fiber price. I’m calling again next week to ask them to match the fiber speed.

I’m interested to see what Fidium’s response time is to a major storm knocking out service.

How do they do on outage? I was going to switch but a friend of mine that has them said it takes forever to get service back up due to them not being as big as spectrum. By forever he said it took two days longer. Anyone have experience on outages?

I (Lisbon/Topsham) had spectrum, hated it, paid $90 for 250 mbs and the service dropped out for 10-30 seconds. Slow ass internet.

We switched to Fidium (free install) it’s $70/mo =12 months- 1GB DL /1GB UL. Seriously I downloaded a 6gb update on my Xbox AND IT TOOK MINUTES. I used to set up and only do updates overnight.

I was watching 160-200 MBS DL speed at peak time. On its best day of spectrum I got up to like 25-40 mbs. The app is usable (4.5 stars) and I called Fidium and didn’t wait long and spoke to a person and he explained my new billing cycle and the app.

Oh OP...what a rhetorical question you are asking, my friend.

GNS users like you and I are in the very sore minority here in this subreddit, I'm afraid. Fidium is owned by Consolidated Communications which has been infamous for having terrible speeds for years. That's why I went with GNS.

It’s likely that none of your devices support >1gbps. Not worth it.

I’ve had it since September. It’s been excellent. Stable speeds, no noticeable dips. Excellent response time. I’m getting pretty darn close to a gig reliably when hardwired. 400-600mbps over WiFi throughout the house, but that’s a limitation of my equipment, not Fidium. Eventually I’ll upgrade. Zero downtime so far, even when we had some ice on the fiber line in that super cold spell.

Spectrum went full nuclear and tried to tell me they’d be out of business in a year and are a “fly by night” company. I just laughed. Felt great to tell them to shut my account off.

Fidium has been a excellent in southern Maine! Fast speeds, no random outages, and a fast install!

I was comparing Fidium’s 1 gig to Gonetspeed’s 1Gig. GoNetspeed doesn’t have a 2gig yet. $80 standard price for 1Gig is a great value to Fidium’s standard price of $95 for 1Gig

As someone that works from home in IT, I would love to have 1Gbps up. I have spectrum right now on 500Mbps/20 and it sucks when I have to upload large packages. I end up remoting into machines on site to spin up WMs, do all my packages and testing.

However, they aren’t in my area…yet.

Do you actually have any equipment that supports speed higher than 1Gbps? Router, switches, wifi, etc? It is possible but not common for residential equipment.

I'd be surprised if you need 1 gig speed, I'd be very curious to hear why you need 2 gig speed.

All that said, I have been very happy with fidium. I just recommend providing your own mesh network; the stuff they provide is fine, but not great.
