Which are the ones on the list but when you show up they act surprised you’re there? That was us one year

Messy website but some reasonably good information/links to find places for Maine Maple Sunday. Support our local maple syrup producers!

Le vent du nord has a great song about harvesting sap to make syrup called “L’eau de vie de l’arbre” if you want a themed soundtrack 🤓

My parents love the Harris Farm maple Sunday breakfast. I haven't been since I was a teen...

Any suggestions for someone with an infant for things to see? Like farm animals, equipment, scenery, etc.

The new place they built a train as the sugar house is around the corner from my house, anyone know if it’s any good?

Just go and support a local business!

As much as that is a standard statement around here, i prefer to find out if something is decent or not before I spend money on it.

And you trust a strangers opinion on the internet over your own experiences?

You've never once asked about something online? Never asked people their thoughts on Reddit about something you aren't sure about? a DIY project, a hobby?

I call bullshit.

I’ve been to places where the reviews are good and the place is not good (to me) and the exact opposite. But if multiple people say it’s good then it’s a good chance it is, if multiple say no, probably a chance it isn’t good and we find somewhere else.
And it isn’t a bad thing to not blindly go somewhere, show up, spend money and time to then find out it’s not good.
Do people buy a car simply because someone says “just go support your local car dealer”? No. It’s the same thing.

It's a bottle of maple syrup, not a $30,000 car.
saigonk t1_jdmux9z wrote
Same principle. Jesus why is that so hard for people to understand?
Let’s make it less money then, so you’ll go spend $20 on something you know nothing about because “it’s local!”
pinetreesandcake t1_jdmmehc wrote
Which place is that?

I saw one of their ads and they were bragging about how their maple syrup is made from sap from rock maples instead of sugar maples. A rock maple is the same thing as a sugar maple. I’m a semi professional maple sugar maker and I will nerd out about trees if you ask me questions.
saigonk t1_jdp712n wrote
I saw that was well, I laughed because I knew of that fact as well. Marketing right? Ha!

I've stopped at Bob's at Dover-Foxcroft a number of times. But they aren't always open when I go by. Anything I've gotten there has been good.

Sweet Williams was fantastic. Nice tour of the sugar house and grounds to the collection site. Free ice cream, maple butter and beans. Cotton candy, maple donuts, assorted candy, scones and assorted sizes of syrup with light to robust available.

If the sugar house isn't just 3 old timers with a bean supper and a bottle of wild turkey watching the boil, I don't want any part of it
