I just got egged in the crotch

Was walking across the Mammoth Street bridge about 8pm. I suddenly had a painful sensation that maybe a dog had bit my crotch and then I looked down and saw what I thought was a golf ball bouncing off my yoga pants crotch and hit the street. It took me a few seconds to realize what had happened. I can't tell if they shouted something too because I had earbuds with music. Turned around and literally ran back the intersection of Pawtucket St. but I didn't immediately see any cars with a passenger or any other clues, and the light immediately turned green so, they got away with it.

Mad right now, and not sure what to do with this information. Posting here as a warning as I have no idea if it was totally random or if they were targeting women/queer women/white people? Also to ask if anyone else has experienced this? Is it trending on TikTok or something? Also if they had hit me in the face I would be in the emergency room right now so it's not super funny either.

I think it’s a stretch to think you were targeted, they’re just throwing eggs. People have been getting egged since like forever

I have literally never heard of an actual person getting egged before. Houses maybe. Interesting how you think getting assaulted is no big deal.

It's definitely not funny to be hit like that, but it's also a fairly common thing. Idiots think it's funny. I doubt you were targeted for any reason other than being present when they decided to do it. Hopefully it never happens to you again.

I am sorry it happened to you, I got Egged as a kid out trick or treating. Ive heard of it happening to people my entire life.

It is assault and it does hurt(especially in the crotch I am sure). I have no idea if it was targeted in your case. I do know it happens randomly.

If you are getting harassed for any reason its not OK. Hope you are doing well, and know the majority of Lowellians support an inclusive community.

There will always be shitty people but if you are out and feel in danger know you live in a supportive community, overall.

If anyone calls out for help and I hear them, I am going to help them. And that is not unique to me.

Thank you for these words! I do feel like the majority of Lowellians are supportive and don't tolerate harassment whether it's random or not. I'm glad to see that eggings apparently aren't trending (I'm in my 40s and have no idea what's going on sometimes, haha), but also saddened that this seems to happen to people every now and then. Maybe the rising price of eggs will get the douchebags to stop it, heh.

Anyway thank you for being a force for good around here.

Same thing happened to me a few years back on Dutton Street. Luckily wasn't that good of a throw. I don't think it's a trend, pretty sure it's just douchebags.
